Cool but nice

I had another great little hike at the Pilot Knob Ridge Preserve. The trails are all clear, but as the temperature is in the 20’s there are some icy spots so watch your footing.

One nice thing about the cold is it makes for some stunning ice displays at the waterfall. And of course I forgot my camera.

Frosty Morning

It was cold when I headed up this morning at 8:00 am. The trails were good but a little wet in spots from the rain we had late last week.

The waterfalls was gushing!

One of the treats this morning was that it was totally clear and I could see Gore Mt, with a new coating of snow on its peak. I also saw some of the snow capped mountains in the high peaks. I will try and idenitfy which ones.

I didn't run into anybody, maybe everyone is more interested in Thanksgiving :-)

I did a little minor trail work, one thing though in particular was I put some brush up where some hikers were cutting a couple of the switchbacks off on the orange trail heading to the driveway. It is important for our trail maintence that hikers stay on the trails.

Until next time.

Pilot Knob Ridge.

Pilot Knob Ridge Nature Preserve is owned by the Lake George Land Conservancy who has graciously opened this little gem up to the public. The history of this parcal of can be found at the following link:

As one of the volunteer trail stewards I visit the PKR often and I am in a position to give a trail report each time I visit.

I also want to talk about some of the interesting things that I see here. So check back from time to time to see what is happening and some pics that I will post.
